Collection: Aventurine

Aventurine is quartz packed with tiny flat mineral flakes. When light catches them, they give a glittery shimmer known as aventurescence.

Varieties and Trade Names

Green aventurine is the most common, and gets its colour and sparkle from fuchsite, a green, chromium-rich mica. Red, orange and yellow aventurine get their colour from iron minerals such as hematite and goethite. Blue aventurine is usually a quartzite coloured by dumortierite, and pink to purple aventurine can contain flakes of lepidolite.

You may also see green aventurine sold as Indian jade, though it is not jade. Red aventurine is sometimes confused with goldstone, which is a man-made glass.

PureTrade Gems supplies wholesale aventurine to UK shops, market traders and other trade buyers.
