Collection: Malachite

Malachite is a green copper carbonate known for its bold light and dark green bands. It forms where copper deposits are weathered by oxygen and water, and the Democratic Republic of Congo is the main source today.

Varieties and Trade Names

It is sometimes found together with azurite, a deep blue copper mineral, and the mix is called azurmalachite. It also occurs with blue chrysocolla. Malachite is fairly soft, so it is best kept away from harder stones.

PureTrade Gems supplies wholesale malachite to UK shops, market traders and other trade buyers.
