Collection: Quartz

Quartz is silicon dioxide, one of the most common minerals on Earth, with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Amethyst, citrine and rose quartz are all coloured varieties and have their own collections.

Varieties and Trade Names

Clear quartz, also called rock crystal, is the colourless form, and white or milky quartz is clouded by tiny inclusions. Rutilated quartz contains fine needles, usually golden rutile. Tourmalinated quartz contains black needles of tourmaline. Hematoid quartz is coloured red or yellow by iron oxide. Strawberry quartz has fine red inclusions of iron minerals, but be aware that some strawberry quartz on the market is glass. Smoky quartz, a brown to grey variety, is another common type.

PureTrade Gems supplies wholesale quartz to UK shops, market traders and other trade buyers.
