Collection: Yooperlite

Yooperlite is a trade name for syenite pebbles containing sodalite, which glows bright orange under UV light. In daylight they look like ordinary grey stones.

Varieties and Trade Names

They were brought to wider attention in 2017 by Erik Rintamaki, who found them on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Geologists believe glaciers carried them there from Canada. The name comes from Yoopers, a nickname for people from the Upper Peninsula.

PureTrade Gems supplies wholesale yooperlite to UK shops, market traders and other trade buyers.
